When Chad would be in-between projects he would go into, what he called, “survival mode”.  During these times he could make $1.25 last 2 weeks.  On one occasion we decided to take Chad out for dinner and to watch a game.  After our food came, he dipped a French fry into the ketchup that was served at the restaurant.  He tried one bite and said “What is this?  Hunts!?”, then he smacked the bottle across the table.

I had been worried about him up until that point, but I felt comfort knowing that he wasn’t going to allow hard times to affect his discerning pallet! After that, I made sure we always had only the fanciest ketchup around for Chad.
