About 11 years ago, Chad built the world foundation, map, buildings and most of the 3D assets for an open-world game called RePower. The game is a prototype that was developed to educate young people about energy production, renewable energy, and the limits of fossil fuel energy production. The game was tested with high-school and middle-school students and was successful in engaging students to learn in a new way. The model of learning that Chad and I created was called immersive discovery learning or IDL. That model has been adopted by government agencies and educators as a way for kids to learn while having fun.
DOWNLOAD AND PLAY REPOWER
You can download and play the RePower prototype for Mac and PC here. Please keep in mind that this was developed 10-11 years ago, and was made to work on older computers in schools. So the graphic fidelity doesn’t hold up to today’s standards for console games, but it was pretty awesome when we made it.
